About Matt

Verosoul was personal before it was professional.

Through my professional development, I cultivated skills from three very different worlds, so they could be combined to serve our community.

Therapy

Master's level training in creative arts therapy where I integrated creativity in psychotherapy, which gave me a solid foundation to inform my work.

Coaching

Solution focused goal setting which implements strategic thinking to identify and overcome obstacles, allowing the work to be high impact.

Spirituality

Tantra, meditation, and exploring various spiritual paths to weave the wisdom together, all through the lens of a gay man reclaiming spirituality.

Verosoul was created because I needed all three.

My training

My training as a Creative Arts Therapist put me inside hospitals, psychiatric wards, schools, and long-term care facilities, working alongside psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers, before I moved into private practice. That gave me a real, clinical understanding of the patterns that keep people stuck.

But I also saw where therapy's own structure worked against the men I was seeing. Some didn't need to keep circling in curiosity; they needed a determined path forward. They were ready to grow, and they wanted more than insight, they wanted direction. While I may no longer practice therapy, my training and experience are transferable to the work we do together in Verosoul.

Alongside my training, I am constantly in professional development with mentors and colleagues in unique fields, like my supervisor Joe Doherty. I believe it is important to continue learning to ensure the quality of the work is always improving.

Finding Tantra

That search led me to Tantra, a spiritual and meditative path that treats everything, including sensuality, as sacred. As a gay man who spent years working through my own shame around my body and my place in the queer community, Tantra is what actually liberated me, not just understanding the pattern, but living differently inside my own skin.

Following various teachers within the Osho lineage, I later became a certified Meditation Teacher through a 200-hour program with Meditation University, and built a broader spiritual practice over twenty years, tarot and energy work included. You could say I'm a "Queer Mystic," embracing spirituality and sensuality as one through the lens of a sex-positive gay man.

My own path

My own path leading to all this professional development wasn't gentle or easy. I grew up in a house where it wasn't safe to share who I actually was, and I discovered that coming out was dangerous and destabilizing. From my family not accepting my identity, to putting myself out there to meet men fresh out of the closet, I was told outright I wasn't wanted the way I was.

For a while I chased connection wherever I could find it, even in the wrong places, until that search led to an assault I'm still healing from. Years of therapy and pelvic floor physiotherapy (work most people never talk about) are what got me back into my body. Tantra, sex-positive coaching, and therapy are what let me actually want to live in my body again.

Verosoul holds every piece of that. The family stuff nobody prepared you for, the body stuff nobody explains, and the healing nobody hands you a map for.

The Verosoul Method

Clinical insight, coaching structure, and spiritual depth, woven into one coherent path.

Learn more about the method here.

Verosoul is more than a professional practice for me. I've walked the path of self-acceptance, belonging, and living out loud as a gay man myself, and I built Verosoul because it's the path I wished someone had handed me. Now it's my privilege to walk it with you.
